Willie

Willie, a pot-bellied pig, was rescued from a dire situation in Charlotte, NC. An elderly couple's initial group of seven pet pigs had ballooned to over a hundred due to uncontrolled breeding. The pigs were living in deplorable conditions; some suffered from inbreeding and deformities, while others fell prey to unattended dogs. In a concerted effort, several northern sanctuaries stepped in to rescue over 80 pigs, providing veterinary care and finding them loving homes. The remaining pigs were entrusted to a local rescue organization, which worked diligently to re-home them before animal control could intervene with euthanasia. During the challenging times of Covid, when resources were scarce and assistance was sparse, we were fortunate to intervene on behalf of at least one little pig, ensuring Willie's tale had a joyful turn.

Willie's birthday is June 9, 2021
