Trooper

Meet Trooper, aptly named for his resilience. This tiny baby lamb was only hours old when a predator, likely a bird of prey, snatched and then dropped him.
When he was found lying lifeless, his head was bleeding from puncture wounds, and he was cold. He was brought in to warm him up and then his wounds were tended to. He was given medication for his wounds, and they were told that he might not make it through the night.
The following day, Trooper was alive but could neither lift his head nor stand. Still uncertain of his future, his owners decided he needed more specialized care than what they were capable of. Upon arrival at our Sanctuary, Trooper's fighting spirit was undeniable. We immediately took him to the vet, where X-rays revealed a badly fractured vertebra in his neck, casting doubt on his future mobility. Time would tell.
In the following weeks, Trooper began to lift his head, and with continued physical therapy and the aid of a wheelchair, he gradually regained leg function. Although his balance was severely affected, and it was uncertain if it would improve, Trooper persevered.
Now, Trooper can walk and run, albeit with some lingering effects from his early trauma. He is adapting and learning to compensate for his challenges.

Trooper's birthday is April 15, 2024
