Peanut
Meet Peanut, the first tiny piggy resident of our sanctuary! She was just a baby, a three-month-old potbelly pig, when she came to us. Originally from Indiana, Peanut made the journey in two stages. She arrived with a congenital deformity in her front leg, which had been left untreated. She had never seen a vet and had been confined to an outdoor kennel. Once under our care, we immediately took her for a veterinary evaluation to explore options for her leg, but, regrettably, no interventions were possible. Despite this, Peanut adapts well, moving happily on her three legs. She follows a carefully managed diet to prevent excessive weight gain, which is crucial as she may require a prosthetic as she ages, particularly if arthritis sets in. But none of this dampens her spirits—Peanut is the epitome of cuteness and sweetness. She revels in belly rubs and adores the attention she receives. Her diet includes a variety of vegetable platters, and she stays active with her friends Lucy and Willie.
