Patches

This is the story of Patches, a remarkable goat with a striking appearance. Tragically, he lost his entire back hoof at just a week old when his mother accidentally stepped on him, causing irreparable damage. His owner diligently cared for the injury with daily bandages and medication, all under a veterinarian's watchful eye, to ward off infection.
However, the time came when his owner could no longer provide the necessary care, and that's when we were contacted for help.
Upon Patches' arrival at our Sanctuary in 2022, we took over the regimen of daily care for his foot. A thorough evaluation by the University of Georgia's veterinary team revealed the necessity for a full leg amputation due to infection in the bone. Bravely, Patches underwent surgery and, to our joy, recovered fully. He now navigates life as our beloved "tripod" goat, moving gracefully on three legs. Patches is truly one of the many little wonders at our Sanctuary.

Patches birthday is May 6, 2022
