Noah

Noah's story is truly astonishing. After his mother passed away, his previous owners were unaware that a newborn goat requires colostrum within the first 12 hours to kickstart their immune system. They also didn't know to treat his navel with iodine to block bacterial entry into his bloodstream. Consequently, Noah contracted a potentially fatal condition known as "joint ill," caused by bacteria infiltrating through the navel. Located in Kansas City, a two-day journey from us, Noah's plight seemed beyond our reach. We hoped a nearer rescue could intervene, but destiny chose a different route for Noah. By some miracle, a kind-hearted family from Kansas, en route to Asheville, North Carolina for a reunion, learned of Noah's situation on social media and volunteered to transport him. Despite a two-day drive with their children, they delivered Noah to us at a prearranged late-night exchange. Their extraordinary empathy still moves me deeply.

The following day, Noah was taken to the vet. His knee underwent multiple flushes, and an X-ray revealed potential bone damage from the infection, raising fears of amputation. A subsequent visit to the University of Georgia saw his knees flushed and drained again. Back home, we continued the treatment, flushing his knee and administering strong antibiotics. Our relentless efforts over several weeks were rewarded; the infection cleared, and his knee began to heal independently. Further X-rays confirmed the infection hadn't reached the bone. Noah seemed destined to be with us, and our gratitude to the family who transported him, and to everyone involved in his recovery, is boundless.
