Levi
Levi was born with an inability to use his back legs. Despite the family's love for him, they were unsure of how to care for him. They thankfully reached out for help. Upon his arrival, we noticed his back legs were crossed, his hips jutted outward, his fetlocks were collapsed. He was also suffering from an undiagnosed eye condition that was being treated with Neosporin.
Once settled, Levi's eye was examined, revealing an ulcer, and he received the appropriate medication. His awkward leg positioning made it impossible for him to stand, and his front legs had grown extremely weak from prolonged inactivity. Stretching and physical therapy were challenging, but we remained hopeful that his tendons would lengthen, and his fetlocks would strengthen.
Three-month-old Levi was placed in a wheelchair to help him achieve a sternal position. With daily therapy, he slowly mastered moving forward in his wheelchair. Over time, his legs began to assume the correct alignment.
Today, Levi has triumphed over his challenges and no longer needs a wheelchair! He walks independently, his fetlocks continue to grow stronger, he has regained sight in both eyes, and his bone structure has normalized. Levi is indeed one of the little miracles at our sanctuary.
