The K-Girls' Story

Affectionately known as the K-girls, these birds faced a grim future. They were brought here from New York after being rescued from an annual ritual in Brooklyn. During the Kapparot ritual, hens and roosters are brutally killed on the streets. These particular birds were fortunate to avoid that end and were brought to us instead. They belong to the Cornish Cross breed, which is engineered to reach market weight rapidly, within 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately, this breed is not designed for a long life, typically living only 2-4 years due to rapid growth that their hearts and legs cannot sustain. However, these girls are now enjoying a wonderful life, complete with a proper diet and exercise.
