Donny

Introducing Donatello, affectionately known as Donny. At the tender age of two months, Donny came into our care in 2022  suffering from "Joint Ill," a serious bacterial infection that can lead to swollen joints, lameness, and potentially fatal outcomes. This condition often afflicts newborns through their umbilical sites or through injuries, typically impacting areas such as the fetlocks, knees, hocks, shoulders, and stifles. In addition to this, he was also dealing with urine scald.
Due to an initial misdiagnosis, Donny's condition deteriorated to the point where he was unable to stand, and euthanasia was recommended on the grounds that he would never regain the ability to stand or walk.
He had too much of a will to survive, so we brought him home, committed to providing him with supportive care for as long as he continued to fight. With appropriate medication and pain management, Donny's resilience shone through. He persevered, and so did I. Over time, his urine scald healed, and the Joint Ill was eradicated from his body. Although his joints remain enlarged and he is at risk of developing arthritis due to the early trauma, we are prepared to manage this condition.
Today, Donny is not just standing; he is walking. His spirit and determination are an inspiration. While we are aware that arthritis will progress in the future, we are dedicated to making the most of our time together, embracing the joys of goat life.

Donny's birthday is May 25, 2022
